🌍 The Birth of the Internet Every year, InternationalInternet Day is celebrated on October 29 , marking 56 years since the first electronic message was sent between two computers — the moment that began the digital revolution. That first message, “ LO ,” sent between UCLA and Stanford University in 1969 , was meant to spell “LOGIN,” but the system crashed after the first two letters. Those two characters became the birth cry of the Internet — a network that now connects billions worldwide. The Internet began as ARPANET (Advanced Research Projects Agency Network) , a U.S. Department of Defense project in the late 1960s to ensure resilient computer communication.
