 THE FIERCE PROTECTOR OF JUSTICE

Introduction

On the sixth day of Navratri, Maa Katyayani is worshipped. She is considered one of the most powerful forms of Goddess Durga. Born from the penance of Sage Katya to destroy evil, Maa Katyayani ended the tyranny of the demon Mahishasura. This is why she is also called the Warrior Goddess.
Her form teaches today’s youth that raising your voice against injustice and wrongdoings is the truest form of courage.

The Divine Symbolism

  • Maa Katyayani has four hands – holding a sword, a lotus, and two in blessing gestures.

  • Her vehicle is the lion, representing courage and strength.

  • Her radiant and fierce form signifies that injustice and fear can only be destroyed through fearlessness.
